Imperial’s storied history traces back the 1892 establishment of Deltah, one of America’s first fine jewelry firms; and the 1917 founding of the Imperial Pearl Syndicate. Throughout the 20th Century, we led the way in cultured pearl jewelry marketing and design; both through supporting retail partners, and through direct consumer marketing.
Hollywood icons like Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth donned our pearls in the 1950s; in the 1980s, First Lady Nancy Reagan was an Imperial fan. Meanwhile, we’ve worked behind the scenes: establishing strong personal relationships with pearl farmers throughout Asia, developing manufacturing facilities in the United States and China, and dually providing classic jewelry and leading the way in creating on-trend fashion jewelry.
In the 1970s, Banice Bazar purchased and merged the companies to establish the singular brand: Imperial. Today, with three generations of the Bazar family leading the global Imperial brand, we remain family owned and operated… uniquely blending the capabilities of an international corporation with the personal service of a small business. Through partnerships with independent retailers and national brands, we provide consumers everything from rare high-end important jewels, to fashion-forward Freshwater designs. Embracing the new opportunities of the 21st Century.
Some companies sell pearls. Some design jewelry for pearls. Some market pearls. At Imperial, we are pearls.
